  • A 550 mile (900 km) all-season road, within a utilities corridor, will be built to connect to the North American road network at Yellowknife, connecting to the existing highway system from Yellowknife to Alberta.

  • The road will pass through the mineral-rich Slave Geological Province, enabling critical minerals development including copper, zinc, and lithium.

  • The road will be built from both ends:
West Kitikmeot Resources is developing the 140 mi (230 km) Grays Bay to Jericho segment.

  • The Government of the Northwest Territories is developing the NWT portion of the corridor. The route for this segment is under development - one potential option is shown in the maps on this site. NWT indigenous governments are endorsing the corridor as a priority.

  • The full corridor will accelerate trade between Alberta, NWT, and Nunavut. Resources will be transported north to Arctic tidewater, south to Alberta processing facilities, while goods and hydrocarbons (e.g. LNG, CNG, and diesel) can move north to support NWT and Nunavut industry and communities.
